East St John High School senior Scotti Beth Lawson has been invited by the Presidential
Youth Inaugural Conference to attend the upcoming activities commemorating the presidential inauguration in Washington D.C. She will be leaving for our nation’s capital on Jan. 17 and will remain until Jan. 21. While in Washington, D.C., she will witness the swearing in of President elect, Barack Obama.
In addition, Scotti Beth will also be attending the prestigious Black Tie Gala Inaugural Ball. Throughout her stay, she will also be directly participating in educational activities, debates, and roundtable discussions to further her understanding of the presidential election processes.
Scotti Beth was chosen for this honor because of her participation in the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., last school year. While participating in that conference, she had the opportunity to meet with the Louisiana Congressional delegation and had the opportunity to have a lengthy conversation with Congressman Charlie Melancon (pictured above) about the Trade Agreement with China.
Scotti Beth is the daughter of Ken and Wendy Lawson of LaPlace.
