Veterans Day Presentation

Destrehan High School American History Teachers will be hosting a Veterans Day presentation featuring speakers from the WWII era.

These speakers will join our classes on Thursday, October 23rd in the Destrehan High School Banquet Room.

Parents and Community Members are invited.

JROTC Unit Evaluation

On October 22 the DHS Air Force Junior ROTC unit, LA-932, will receive a Unit Evaluation conducted by Colonel Wolfgang Gesch, the Area Administrator for West Louisiana and Texas.

Col Gesch will provide a graded assessment as to how LA-932 is functioning and performing its mission. Cadets will be showcasing their ownership and professionalism in the JROTC program by the wear of their uniform, drill performance and cadet briefing.

Riverlands SPCA to Host Fundraiser

The Riverlands Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its tenth annual Bark After Dark gala hosted by television news anchor Angela Hill at Bull’s Corner in LaPlace beginning at 7 p.m. on October 24. Tickets are $50 and may be reserved by sending checks to Riverlands SPCA, P. O. Box 223, LaPlace, LA 70079-0223, calling 985-652-SPCA or contacting bevrtt@att.net.

Bark After Dark will feature a buffet dinner, music by We3, a silent auction, and a Balloon Blast.

Sponsors for the event are needed. Sponsorships from $100 to $350 will be recognized at the event, and sponsorships of $500 and $1000 will have reserved tables and be included in a newspaper announcement.

The annual event is the RSPCA’s major fundraiser and proceeds will support the group’s spay and neuter, and pet adoption programs.
