Adams

Rebecca Petit Adams, age 71, a native and resident of Ama, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 7:19 a.m. at her home. Beloved wife of Elson Adams of 51 years. Mother of Wayne Adams, Timmy Adams, the late Tommy Adams, Kim Adams Laque (husband Chris), Racheal Adams Tate (husband Gary), Dean Adams (wife Natalie) and Mindy Adams. Grandmother of Timmy Adams Jr., Jessica Adams, Saul Adams, Amanda Tate, Dylan Chimento, Megan Adams, Alexandra Adams, Erica Adams, Jenna Adams, Nicole Laque Epsey, Brandon Laque and Phillip Hill. Great-grandmother of Landon Epsey. Sister of Helen Melancon, Stanley Petit and the late Gerald Petit, and the late Alvin Petit.

Visitation and services were held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Ama on Monday, October 6. Interment in St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling.

Caillet

Maybelle Baudoin Caillet, age 94, entered peacefully into eternal rest on October 1, 2008. Born March 6, 1914, in Raceland. She was a resident of Hahnville for 74 years. Beloved wife of the late Syle F. Caillet Sr. for 68 years. Mother of Gerald Caillet and wife Madeleine, Syle Caillet Jr. and wife Patsy and the late Sylvia Touchard and husband the late Myron and the late Cynthia Caillet. Daughter of the late Tastet Noel Baudoin and Inez R. Baudoin. Sister of Wilson Baudoin and the late Earl, Roy, Hubert, Willard, Lloyd Baudoin and Louise B. Richard. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, October 6, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville. Interment in Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport.

Jacob

Wilbert “Boot” Jacob on Friday, October 3, 2008, at 6:45 a.m. Beloved husband of Doris Mae Oubre Jacob. Father of Kevin Jacob and wife Sandra and Kathleen Volion and husband Albert Sr. Grandfather of Emily Vickers, Shirley Webre, Albert Jr and Thomas Volion, Stephanie Hudson and Matthew Jacob. Also survived by 20 great-grandchildren. Age 85. A native of Reserve and a resident of Garyville for the past 62 years.

Visitation and services were at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville on Monday, October 6. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.

Laurent

Anna Mae Vicknair Laurent on Friday, October 3, 2008, at 1:00 a.m. Beloved wife of Lionel (Torriet) Laurent. Mother of Lionel Laurent Jr. and wife Beverly, Danny Laurent and wife Doris and Melissa Millet and husband Dwaine. Also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Daughter of the late Abraham and Christiana Vicknair. Sister of Lorraine Sparacino and Ernest (Boulet) Vicknair. Age 77. A native and resident of LaPlace.

Services were held on Monday, October 6, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in  Reserve.

Laurent

Simeon J. Laurent, age 97, died on October 3, 2008, a native and resident of Vacherie. Beloved husband of Dorothy Keller Laurent. Survived by daughters Marie Maddy Lewisand  Linda M. Steib, sons Simeon A. and Errol Laurent, two daughters-in-law Joyce Philips and Louise Laurent, 35 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, Maria Harris, Rita Jones, Genevieve Magee and Nezzie Laurent, one son-in-law, Russel Steib, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Davis and Auralie Steib Laurent, brothers Henry, George, Joseph, Maurice and Edward Laurent,  sisters Rose and Sadie Dumas, Selena Fergerson and Cloudia Baptist, sons Martin Philips, and Dickie Laurent, grandsons Erwin Steib and Renard Green.

Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, October 7, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie. Interment in church mausoleum.

Nicks

Nickie Lynn Vitrano Nicks, age 53, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at her home in Granbury, Texas, after a short battle with cancer. Nickie was born and raised in Luling,  then moved to Texas in 1985 when she married Craig Nicks.

She was a loving mother who worked as a teaching assistant in Granbury. She is survived by children Ashley Nicks Wootan, husband Paul and Cary Nicks, fiancé Heather Hensley, parents Joyce and Nicholas Vitrano, sister JoAnn Helfrich, brother Darren Vitrano and wife Norma, nieces and nephews Brittany, Heather and Krystal Helfrich, Kristen Vitrano and Brad Breaud, great nephew Makhi Dufrene and close relatives that will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by husband Craig Nicks, grandparents Paul and Annie Vitrano and Alberta and Julius Jones.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, in Granbury, Texas. Her ashes will be placed along side her husband Craig.
