Acosta
Edwin “Doc” Acosta on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 2:55 a.m. Beloved husband of Ruby Poche’ Acosta for 64 years. Father of Dianna A. Roussel, Wayne (Tommy) Acosta & John (Wildman) Acosta. Grandfather of Doreen Lang, Stacey Simmons, Bret and Ryan Roussel, Toby, Tomy and Dusty Acosta. Also survived by six great-grandchildren. Son of the late Joseph and Glendoline Cambre Acosta. Step-son of the late Luciana Tassin Acosta. Brother of Lola Griffin, Lawrence Acosta and the late Bessie Grady, Elaine Brignac, Ronald and Leroy Acosta. Though stricken with Polio he still enjoyed a full life of fishing, dancing and hunting. Age 92. A native and resident of Reserve.
Visitation and services were held Friday, September 26 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery.
Leslie
Joseph B. Leslie Jr. passed away September 25, 2008. Age 77. A Navy veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen, daughter Jena Cook, son Joseph L. Leslie, stepdaughter Carolyn Jouty and sister Ruth Lawson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by brother Jim Leslie.
A native of Tribune, Kan., and a resident of LaPlace for the past 42 years.
Services will be private for the family.
Murry
Josephine Ferraro Murry on Monday, September 22, 2008, at 1:10 a.m. Beloved wife of the late Louis “Tarzan” Murry. Mother of Linda Vicknair. Daughter of the late Mike and Jennie Ferraro. Age 80 years. A native and resident of LaPlace.
Visitation and services were held on Wednesday, Septemeber 24, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery.
Perez
Rinaldo Perez on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 5:28 p.m. Beloved husband of Eva Perez. Father of Tony, Derrick and Jessica Perez. Grandfather of Corey Perez. Son of Hector and Clementina Perez. Age 62. A native of Honduras and a resident of LaPlace for the past 26 years.
Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Monday, September 29. Burial in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, La.
Weber
James Nedray Weber of Vacherie at Riverlands Health Care Center in Lutcher on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, departed this life. Son of the late Roosevelt and Matcolia P. Weber. Brother of Jonoid Weber (Edna), Jeanette W. Savoie (Charlie), Gwendolyn W. Cooper, Vada W. Franklin, Alinda W. Johnson (Rodney), Sybil W. Nalls (Jimmy), and the late Edith W. Steib, Mercedes Weber and Clyde Weber. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
He served in the United States Army, and worked as a self-employed landscaper for 30 years. A native of Vacherie and resided in New Orleans for most of his adult life and Lutcher for the past 4 years. Age 77.
Visitation and services were held on Saturday, September 27, at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. Interment in Church Cemetery.
