RUDDOCK – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and development announced Thursday that the Northbound and Southbound exit ramps on Interstate 55 in the Ruddock area will be closed due to high water levels in Lake Pontchartrain.

The move is a precaution set in place in preparation for the onset of Hurricane Ike, which could bring tropical storm force winds and rain to the St. John Parish area as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico.

The exits completely shut down on September 11. LADOTD said there is no timetable for re-opening at this time. No alternate rout was provided, but the closure is not expected to cause any delays.
