Poche

Eunice Louque Poche passed away on August 24, 2008, at 1:50 a.m. at her residence in

Paulina. She was 75 years old and a native of Grand Point, La.  She was the former owner of Kajun Kitchen Restaurant in Lutcher. She is survived by her sons and their wives:  Randy and Jenny Poche of Baton Rouge, Kenny and Kitty Poche of Gonzales and Marty and Annette Poche of Grand Point and one daughter and her husband Stacy and Blain Roussel of Garyville. She is also survived by her brothers: Alcee J. “A.J.” Louque, Jr. and John Wayne “T-Coke” Louque; sisters:  Annabelle Bourgeois and Gladys Louque; her 12 grandchildren:  Brandon, Brandy, Jason, Stephen, Shawn, Scott, Ryan, Stephanie, Kelly and Brittany Poche and Cody and Brye Roussel; also survived by eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Anthony Poche, her son Barry Anthony Poche and her parents Alcee J. Louque Sr., and Louise Martin Louque; her brothers: Newton, Morris “Buck” and Melvin Louque and sister Enola Brignac.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 pm. on Wednesday, August 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Interment will follow immediately in the Church Mausoleum.  Rose Lynn Funeral services is in charge of the arrangements.

Hirst

Joan Carolyn Donald Hirst on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Canon Hospice in Metairie. Daughter of the late Varnice Jones and Freddie Donald. Husband of Richard J. Hirst, Sr. Mother of Carla Hirst and Richard J. Hirst, Jr. Sister of the late Romona Payton, Royce and Will Donald. Step-sister of Illene Weber, Kathleen Bering, Myra Perry, Carol Burton, Brenda Allen and Trich Evans. Also survived by six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 63 years. A native and resident of St Rose.

Visitation and services were held at Fifth African Baptist Church in St Rose on Saturday, August 23. Interment in St. Rose Cemetery.

Jones

Kentrall (Nu-Nu) Jones, age 33, a construction worker, departed this life on Saturday August 16, 2008, in Laplace. Son of Joseph Jones, Juanita Isom Lee and Gaston Lee. Brother of Darnell Sr., Joseph Jr., Rendall, and D’Neil Jones, Tremeka Robinson, Trynell Fleming, and Kenyatta Breaux. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, sisters- and brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A native of Garyville and resident of Lutcher and Laplace.

Visitation and services were held at Evergreen Baptist Church in Paulina on Saturday, August 23. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in  Paulina.

Madere

Emile C. Madere passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2008. A St. Charles Parish native and long-time resident of Luling. He was 81 years old. A devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Erlyne Ristroph Madere.

Survived by his children: Ronnie Madere (Ruthie) of Luling, Allen Madere (Patti) of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and Kathy Madere Smith (Jonathan) of Magnolia, Texas. He cherished his six grandchildren: Chris Madere (Kim Feimster) of Houston, Jason Madere (Alyson) of Luling, Tyler and Jamie Madere of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and Zachary and Caitlin Smith of Magnolia, Texas. He had a special place in his heart for his great-granddaughter, Taylor Madere. Also survived by his brother, Pete Madere; sister, Leona Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents: Emile C. Madere Sr. and Rena Kinler Madere; and siblings: Harold Madere, Evelyn Hart, Robert Madere, Alfred Madere and Eddie Madere. He proudly services his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Unocal 76, having spent a large part of his career in the Houma area.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, August 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling. Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery in  Taft.

Melancon

Clifford J. Melancon entered into rest on Tuesday, August 19, 2008. He was 83 years old and was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans. He resided at The Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve for the past 9 months. Brother of Doris Stansbury and the late Francis, Aline, Elsie and John. Son of the late Felix and Louise Melancon. Survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Melancon was a retired employee with the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board and was the caretaker for Jackson Avenue Evangelical Congregation. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the AMETO under General Patton.

Services were held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel in Metairie on Friday, August. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Reese

Chenita “Neta” Breaux Tinsley Reese, age 51, T.S.A. Screener, departed this life on Saturday, August 16, 2008, in Marrero, La. Daughter of Raymond and Audrey Breaux. Wife of Chester Reese, Jr. Mother of Robert, Rodney and Nadia Tinsley. Sister Pamela Brown, Lisa Adams, Donna London, Senerca Fredericks, Erika Wilson, Raymond Jr., Ray Anthony, Elton Gerard, Michael, Christopher, Kendall, and Alejandro Breaux. Also survived by eight grandchildren, aunts, uncles, daughters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-laws, other relatives and friends. A native of Garyville and resident of Reserve.

Visitation and services were held at Beech Grove Baptist Church in Reserve on Saturday, August 23. Interment in Zion Travelers Cemetery in Reserve.

Scott

Kevin Gerard Scott on Friday, August 15, 2008, at his residence in Waggaman, La. Son of Jimmy D. Scott, Jr. and Ophelia Isaac. Stepson of Barry Richard and Mary Monroe. Brother of Kimberly Scott and Shavonda Honor. Stepbrother of Tiffany Richard. Grandson of Gladys Marie Broaden, the late Jimmy D. Scott Sr., Rev. Joseph and Aleada Isaac. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 41 years. A native of Killona and resident of W aggaman.

Visitation and services were held at Canaan Baptist Church in Killona on Saturday, August 23. Interment Killona Resthaven Cemetery.

Taylor

Willie Mae “Pow Well” Taylor departed this earthly life on Friday, August 15, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital of Metairie. Daughter of the late Aldonia and Eddie Stewart Sr. Wife of the late Lawrence Taylor. Beloved mother/mother-in-law of Gail William, Claudia (John) Bowser, Eddrain William, Cupid (LaWanda) William, Kenneth T. William and the late Tyrone Alexander. Sister of Ethel Mae Jackson, Geneva Long, Eddie Stewart, Jr., Milton Stewart, the late Eura Lee Porter, Dorothy Knight, Velma Lee, Gloria Davis, Alice Alexis, Melvin Stewart and Raymond Stewart. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation and services were held on Saturday, August 23, at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. Interment in Western Cemetery in Lutcher.

Tice

Mary Wells Reed Tice departed this life on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Wynhoven Health Care Center. Wife of the late James Reed Sr. by first marriage and Allen Tice by second marriage. Mother of James (Alice) Reed Jr., Geraldine Young, Carolyn (Freddie) White of Dallas, Texas, and Lester Reed. Daughter of the late Simon And Celia Kennedy Wells. Preceded in death by three grandchildren. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, great- grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 90 years, a native of St. James and a resident of Westwego, La.

Services were held  at True Vine Baptist Church in Westwego on Saturday, August 23. Interment at Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale.
