Luling man gets nod from Jindal on area board

BATON ROUGE –Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Joe Dantin of Luling to the Board of Commissioners of Lafourche Basin Levee District.

Dantin is a licensed contractor and the president of Bayou Home Improvements, a construction company. Dantin was nominated by president of the Senate Joel Chaisson and will serve as a representative of St. Charles Parish, as required by statute.

The Board of Commissioners of Lafourche Basin Levee District is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the levees and maintaining the levee drainage system of the Lafourche Basin.

According to statute, the board is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments which are subject to senate confirmation. The members are selected as follows: one member from Ascension Parish, one member from Assumption Parish, one member from St. James Parish, one member from St. John the Baptist Parish, two members from St. Charles Parish, and three members will serve at-large members.
