Roussel
Roland Joseph Roussel, age 87, was born on March 6, 1921, in Belmont, La. The Gramercy resident passed away on August 11, 2008, at 7:45 a.m. He is survived by six children: Laddie Roussel (Karen) of Hester, La., Doyle Roussel (Virginia) of Vacherie, Susanne Roussel of Gramercy, Gwendolyn R. Patterson of Hester, La., Michael Roussel (Mary) of Paulina and Sidney Roussel (Adele) of Lutcher. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Michelle Roussel, Rachelle Folchetti, Angelle Buono, Jeannelle Fontenot, Laddie Roussel Jr., Lynne R. Smith, Heidi Roussel, Doyle Roussel Jr., Vincent Patterson Jr., Danielle Roussel, Celeste Roussel, Michael Roussel, Ashley Roussel, Dustin Roussel, Alyson Roussel and Matthew Roussel. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hymel Roussel, his parents, Richard Roussel Sr. and Denise Fabre Roussel; three brothers: Richard Roussel Jr., Ernest Roussel Sr., Garland Roussel Sr. and one sister Marie Diane Roussel. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
He was a longtime member and officer of the Archbishop Blenk Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the VFW Post 5852 and the Lutcher-Gramercy Lions Club. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a retired educator and Superintendent of St. James Parish Schools.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy. Interment will be at St. Joseph Church Mausoleum in Paulina. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Roland Roussel Scholarship Fund, 3483 Perique Rd., Paulina, LA 70763. Maurin
Eugene Joseph Maurin on Friday August 8, 2008, at 4:30 a.m. Beloved husband of the late Gardenia Weber Maurin. Father of Kenneth Maurin and wife Kim, Stephanie Cox and husband Jeffrey, Barbara Maurin and the late Stephen Maurin. Grandfather of Keith Maurin, Jeremy and Samuel Cox and the late Brianne Maurin. Son of the late Horace and Rosa Donaldson Maurin. Brother of Horace (Sonny), Jr., Lois Abadie, Michael Maurin and the late Don and Margaret Maurin. Age 76 years. A native and resident of Reserve.
Visitation and services were held Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Tuesday, August 12. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
Schroeder
Mary Carr Schroeder on Friday, August 8, 2008, at 8:55 a.m. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Schroeder. Mother of Gus Schroeder and wife Lyn and Margaret Murphy and husband Edward. Also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Age 94 years. A native of Ireland and a resident of LaPlace for the past 30 years.
Visitation and sewrvoces were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Monday, August 11. Burial in Pittsburg, Pa., at a later date.
Webb
Gayle Develle Webb on Friday, August 8, 2008, at 1:45 p.m. Beloved mother of Pamela W. Anderson and husband Thomas H. Anderson. Grandmother of Jennifer and Dominique Tamburo. Sister of Kenneth Develle and Henry Develle III and the late Gary Develle. Daughter of the late Henry Develle Jr. and Emma Develle. Aunt of Kenny, Kendra, Kurt, Chad and Beau Develle. Age 67 years. A native and resident of New Orleans.
Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Monday, August 11.
Weber
Allen P. Weber Sr. on Sunday, August 3, 2008, at 9:46 p.m. Beloved father of Stephanie Morvant and husband Calvin, Jacqueline Bazile and husband Charles, Allen Weber Jr. and wife Kim and Tia Stasko and husband Ron. Son of the late Roy and Eola Boe Weber. Former husband of Carmen C. Weber. Grandfather of Ryan, Christopher and Meghan Morvant, Matthew, Samantha, Brandi and Chase Bazile, Nicholas, Austin and Zachary Weber, Hunter Jacob and the late Joseph Allen Weber. Brother of Sharry Millet and husband H. David. Age 72 years. A native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace.
Services were held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace on Thursday, August 7. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
Williams
Rev. Medrick Williams Sr., 83, died July 31, 2008. The Napoleonville native and Reserve resident was son of the late Lasker and Beatrice Williams, husband of the late Rosalie Willliams, father of Deloyd Williams, Verna Warren, Lionel Williams, Aline Zeno, Marva Joseph, Yvonne Smith, Medrick Williams Jr., Norma Dorris, Marilyn Warren, Joyce Bush, Marlene Watkins, Sheryl Pierre, Rose Francois, Gerald Williams and the late Bernadine Batiste and brother of the late Juanita Rodgers and Rev. Haskel Williams. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and services were held Friday, August 8, at Greater Morning Star Baptist Church in LaPlace. Interment at St. John Memorial Garden Cemetery in LaPlace.
Williams
Roselee “Rosie” Williams, 53, died August 1, 2008. The Convent native and Reserve resident was the wife of Raymond Williams Sr., mother of Derrick Sr., Raymond Jr. and Lawrence and sister of Ruby Laphand, Dolores Collins, Nolan Legeaux, Bernadette Williams, Robert Johnson Jr., Janet Sam, Roderick Johnson, Kathleen Parnell and John Paul Johnson.
Visitation and services were held on Friday, August 8, at New Wine Christian Fellowship in LaPlace. Interment in Zion Travelers Cemetery in Reserve.
