HAHNVILLE – Authorities in St. Charles Parish arrested a St. Rose man after he allegedly shot and wounded a relative during an altercation at the victim’s apartment, said a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, public information officer for the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office said Willie Brown, 46, 308 East Club Dr. Apt. E, is facing attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting.

LaGrange explained that the victim, whose name was not released, was moving out of an upstairs apartment in Brown’s complex when Brown showed up asking questions about an unpaid cable bill.

According to a sheriff’s office report, the victim refused to address the situation and continued moving his belongings downstairs. Brown then followed the victim downstairs, brandished a 9mm handgun and opened fire on the victim without warning. The victim then ran back upstairs, locked his door, and called for help when he realized his injuries.

The report said bullets hit the victim in the right foot and grazed his neck. He was transported to St. Charles Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Brown was transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility where he is being held on $500,000 bond.
