Former Reserve Christian star Tweety Carter’s a sophomore guard for the surprising Baylor Bears this season.

But those who followed Carter’s career at Reserve Christian can’t be all that surprised that he’s having success at the next level..

A prep legend with the Eagles, Carter holds the national scoring record for most all-time points by a prep basketball player with 7,457 points over six seasons. He was named McDonald’s All-American, Parade All-American (third team), Jordan All-American, EA Sports All-American and MaxPreps All-American following senior season in 2006.  Overall, Carter’s Eagles went 248-69 under Coach Timmy Byrd and won four state titles in six seasons. As a senior, Carter’s Eagles went 48-8 with another Class C state title. Carter also holds the national record for 3-pointers in a season with 287, and once scored 74 points in a game (against East St. John on 12-5-05). His total accomplishments at the school are too numerous to list here.

Now, Carter’s brought his winning ways with him to Baylor, who is knocking on the door of the NCAA tournament with an 18-9 record. Carter scored 12 points as the Bears defeated No. 25 Kansas State on Saturday, 92-86, including three big 3-pointers that helped the Bears stave off a Big 12 record 44 point performance by Michael Beasley.

On the season, Carter is averaging 9 points a game and is second on the team in both 3-point percentage and assists.
