RESERVE- Expulsion will be recommended for two East St. John High School students in the next few weeks as the school seeks an ending to what has been an intense round of threats.

Superintendent Michael Coburn has said he wants to make an example of the students responsible for the November 30 closing of ESJH in reaction to the threats.

Jared Ranallo,17, was arrested last week and charged with terrorizing after posting a computer generated cartoon of a flame-ridden East St. John High School on popular social networking website MySpace. Ranallo will face a December 13 hearing for the posting over which, Robert Schaff, supervisor of child welfare and attendance at St. John Public Schools, will preside.

“It is a fair and impartial hearing,” said Coburn. “Our hearing officers will hear both sides of it.”

The other suspect, a 16-year-old sophomore, was arrested earlier in the week and charged with six counts of phoning in bomb threats.

The 16-year-old will likely be scheduled for an expulsion hearing next week.

Both students, if expelled, will receive at least a year expulsion.
