Customer service is top priority for mechanics

LAPLACE – The service area at Rainbow Chevy is clean and organized. Every repair dock holds a car being repaired by a well-qualified mechanic using state of the art equipment.

This may sound strange to those of us who are patrons of “Uncle Joe’s” treeside car repair, but these men are professionals and this is a professional workplace.

Service Manager Mickey Frost has worked for GM for 27 years and says his team of mechanics is the most highly trained in the city with over 100 years of combined experience.

“Our mechanics are at 230 percent training by GM standards,” says Frost. In addition they boast five GM certified master mechanics.

In most instances the service department at Rainbow Chevy provides same day service.

Since occupying their location close to a decade ago they have tripled their work volume. Now they maintain 35-40 cars a day. On the busiest days in the summer that number can go up to 70. Frost says their eventual goal is 70 cars a day, but he will need to hire more mechanics first because they still want to give individualized attention to each customer.

“We’re busy and we run a lot of cars through here and we give everyone the best service,” said Frost.

Frost assures his customers that the pricing at Rainbow is competitive. He has researched all of the other dealers.

“We are at or below what they charge,” Frost says. “You get what you pay for and not many other dealers can say they are even 100 percent trained. We are that and then some.”

“If you have problems that need to be addressed, come see me,” says Frost.

Service hours at Rainbow Chevy are 7:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are located at 2020 West Airline Highway in LaPlace.
