MCA halts Hahnville

After falling behind by a game in Wednesday’s match against No. 1 seed Mount Carmel in the Division I state volleyball playoffs, Hahnville rallied to take the second.

But that’s also where the rally ended. The Tigers fell to the Cubs, who prevailed 25-17, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-12 at the Pontchartrain Center.

Mount Carmel advanced to face No. 8 seed Terrebonne in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

For Hahnville (19-16), Nadia Cox tallied 14 kills and 10 digs. Alexis Marvin had three blocks and three aces. Raven Scott added 37 assists.

Mount Carmel (34-2) got a 23 kill effort from Caitlin Clarke and nine blocks from Paige Gantar. Brittany fields had 16 assists and two aces and Emily Pepperman had 38 assists.

Mount Carmel never trailed in the first and fourth games.
