Riverside’s Jessie LeBlanc captured the 10-2A cross-country district championship Thursday highlighting a list of Riverside runners.
LeBlanc finished with a time of 17:15 to outpace all other runners in the event. “He’s one of the top runners in the state,” said Riverside Coach Daniel Waguespack. “It’s what we’ve come to expect from him.”
Waguespack trailed until the final lap, falling as far back as fourth. But there, he turned on the jets and made it to the front of the pack, never relinquishing his lead.
Other participants for Riverside included: Matt Graves, 26:10; Jennie LeBlanc, 27:43; Jamie Landeche, 29:05; Chelsie Stein, 31:12; and Katie Landeche, 33:25.
Waguespack was pleased with his team’s effort and continued improvement.
“The whole team is improving, getting better,” said Waguespack.
Riverside’s next race will be at the state meet, Nov.13, in Natchitoches.
