LAPLACE – One of three men involved in an armed robbery of a LaPlace convenience store early last week was arrested Monday by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to Maj. Mike Tregre, a spokes-man for the sheriff’s office, Carlshane Dennis, 18, 1515 Natchez Ln., LaPlace turned himself in to deputies after hearing that a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Dennis is being charged with armed robbery for his role in a holdup that took place at LaPlace Discount, 820 W. Airline Hwy., on Monday, October 8, 2007. Dennis and two others entered the store and forced the cashier to open the register. An undisclosed amount of cash, a carton of Kool cigarettes, and two boxes of cigars were taken from the scene, and the suspects fled north toward Colony Drive.

Tregre said investigators obtained Dennis’ name through the course of the investigation. He was also positively identified through a six man photographic lineup.

Tregre said Dennis’ accomplices in the robbery are still being sought, and detectives are attempting to determine if Dennis is involved in other cases being investigated by the sheriff’s department.

Anyone with any information regarding Dennis, or the whereabouts of the other two suspects is asked to call the St. John Sheriff’s office at 985-652, or Crimestoppers at 877-903-7867.
