Anna Frances Monica, lifelong resident of Garyville, La., died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at 1:15 p.m..

She was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Vita Navarra Monica, sister of Phyllis Himel (O’Neil), Cookie Accardo (Sammy Sr.) and Maria Stein (Wayne), Carl, and Frank (Nancy). Sister-in-law of Linda Monica (the late Anthony) and Joy Monica (the late Fano).

Her two brothers preceded her in death.

Her dear friends Henry and Eleanor G’sell also survive her.

Nieces and nephews include Robbie Luminais, Randy Himel, O’Neil Himel Jr., Scott Himel, Sammy Accardo Jr., Todd and Casey Accardo, Melissa Monica, Sunny Waguespack, Wayne Stein, Jr., Ty, Nicholas, Katie and Gina Monica and Matthew and Michael Monica.

Grand nieces and nephews are Lacy and Scott Himel Jr., Jessica Himel, Mikey, Ryan, Jonathan and Katie Luminais, Riley and Jackson Monica, Samuel III and Matthew Accardo and Easton and Anna Maria Waguespack.

Anna was a retiree of Chevron Oil Company and over the years wrote features and a column for L’Observateur newspaper in LaPlace.

A dedicated jogger for 18 years, and an avid tennis player for 40, she always had many interests but none greater than her family, especially the young nieces and nephews.

It was Anna’s wish that the funeral be private. It was her heartfelt belief that she was loved and comforted by others, especially her family, in life, and she wanted to be remembered as we knew her; plus she thoroughly disliked goodbyes.

There will be cremation, and burial will be strictly private.

Anna leaves her good wishes and love to all she has known, and in lieu of other remembrances would request that you donate in her name to the St. John Humane Society, St. John Animal Shelter, or any other humane society and offer masses.

We, Anna Monica’s family and close friends, will honor her request for private burial; however, we feel that it is certainly appropriate to honor Anna’s memory and celebrate her extraordinary life. We invite the public to attend a memorial mass in her honor and in celebration of her life.

A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Hubert’s Church, 176 Anthony F. Monica St., Garyville, Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.
