Body in river was Houma man, sheriff says

LAPLACE – The month-long hunt for a Houma man who went missing from his prison work-release detail ended when his body was discovered, floating in the Mississippi River near the Luling Bridge, according to the St. Charles Parish Sherrif’s Office.
There had been no reported sightings of the deceased, Paul Jackson, since May 27, according to the Sheriff’s Office, when he was seen swimming near a barge in Convent, during a work-release outing. The Coast Guard later reported Jackson missing, and law enforcement authorities were alerted to his apparent escape.
Shortly before 4 a.m. on June 21st, Jackson’s body was discovered. He was 23.
