GARYVILLE – The St. John Sheriff’s Office captured an alleged killer who willingly turned himself in to police but denied having any knowledge of the murder that police suspect he committed.

Trevin Johnson, 18, of 371 Historic East St. in Garyville, reportedly knew the St. John Sheriff’s Office was pursuing him for the murder of Tim Braxton, 17, of 153 Earl Baloney St. in Garyville, when he turned himself in at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.

Officers booked him with second degree murder with no bond, but he claimed to have no involvement in Braxton’s murder.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office suspects that Johnson shot Braxton with a handgun on Friday night at a home on the 300 block of Little Hope Street in Garyville.

At 7:30 p.m. witnesses reported to officers that someone shot Braxton in the left shoulder and fled on foot before Braxton ran to a nearby house with a trail of blood in his wake. A group of people rushed Braxton to River Parishes Hospital for treatment, but the bullet wounds proved fatal.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office does not know the motive for the killing and is conducting an investigation of Braxton’s death.
