LAPLACE – The St. John Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mt. Airy man late Friday night for attempted second degree murder after he allegedly riddled a LaPlace man with bullets and abandoned his bloodied body on the ground.
At 5 p.m. St. John police responded to a disturbance on the 800 block of Woodland Dr. and reportedly discovered Shawn Fisher, a 36-year-old LaPlace resident, lying on a grassy area bleeding from several gunshots.
Fisher told police that he was shot by Jarei Farlough, 26, of 249 Daffodill St. in Mt. Airy, before he was taken to River Parishes Hospital and later airlifted to University Hospital. His condition is guarded, according to the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
Farlough turned himself over to police at 10:36 p.m. and was transported to the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility with a $250,000 bond. He allegedly refused to answer officers’ questions at the time of his arrest.
Investigators from the St. John Sheriff’s Office do not have a motive for the shooting at this time, and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact 652-9514.
