DESTREHAN — Destrehan had a good week of work for the boys and girls on the diamond this week as the softball squad rallied for a 3-2 win on Wednesday and the boys picked up a 12-1 win in four and a half innings against Thibodaux.

It began with the baseball team on their home field Tuesday afternoon where a big third inning put this one away for DHS. With eight runs scoring before Thibodaux could manage the third out, the Wildcats took a commanding eleven point lead. Caleb Madere led Destrehan in the win from the mound while Renny Weber led from the batter’s box with two hits and three RBIs.

On the girls side, the LadyCats looked to be in trouble when they trailed Higgins 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. But Shannon Clark turned the tide with a double that scored two to put Destrehan in the lead. Pitcher Julie Beaugh held off the Lady Hurricanes in the final two innings to take the win, her fifth through five starts.

The girls stand at 5-1 n the early season while the boys are 3-2. This weekend, the LadyCats are heading to Metairie for the East Bank Fast Pitch Tour while the boys are set for a tournament in Monroe.
