RESERVE – If this one were a baseball game, they’d have called it after the first quarter.

But it wasn’t. And Reserve Christian made no qualms about establishing themselves early on in their bi-district round game against Assembly Christian, going up by more than 20 points after just eight minutes of play and hitting eight three pointers by halftime. And that was without the usual starting line-up.

The district 10-C champions set out to defend their state title in the first round of the playoffs with the tilt, which matched them up with the district third place Lions in district 7-C.

Cedric Jenkins opened scoring for the game with an RCS three pointer and got a lay-up on the quick turnaround and an assist from Demond Peters. The theme stayed the same from there as the Eagle defense shut down the Lions and took most of their points on the fast break. In just the first quarter, Jenkins, Peters and Chadd Simmons each got nine points to take it into the second quarter 34-6.

RCS went into three point mode there, with Jenkins and Peters each knocking down a pair to lead the Eagles into the break 46-10. After that, it was just a matter of time as Reserve Christian secured the win with a 84-34 final score, advancing them to the regional round where they are set to face Sicily Island in a road contest.
