RESERVE —Reserve Christian held on to a first half 11 point lead against 5A St. Augustine last Friday night in a non-district tilt, despite being outscored 25-15 in the third quarter, and went to 24-19 in their overall record with the post-season set to begin next week.

Eddren McCain led the Eagles with a game-high 24 points while Cedric Jenkins and Justin Bernard each hit double digits in scoring with 13 and 12 respectively.

It was the first eight minutes of the game that helped the Eagles escape this one, as they posted 22 points on their home court while the Purple Knights could only manage 11. St. Aug adjusted to the court in the second quarter and matched RCS to take it into the break with a 38-27 score in favor of the home team.

After the half, the Purple Knights came out firing on all cylinders, making a 25-15 run to make it just a one point advantage for Reserve Christian going into the final period.

But RCS tightened down and finished up with a win after a tense fourth quarter that ended with the Eagles outscoring their opponent by three points.
