Wanted gunman taken into custody for shooting man in leg in St. John

RESERVE- St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has taken a Reserve man into custody who is allegedly responsible for a shooting in Reserve that occurred in February of 2006.

On Feb. 12, 2006 St. John Parish deputies were called to the scene of a shooting in which a white male had been shot in the leg.

&#8220The two men had been playing dominoes when they began arguing over a chair when Gene Murray, of 127 NW 18th in Reserve, got up from his seat and pulled out a 12-gauge shotgun and shot the man twice in the leg,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for St. john the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Murray was arrested by Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office and released to St. John Parish Sheriff’s office on a warrant.

Murray was booked with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery and his bond has been set at $50,000.
