The new districts came into focus this week as outgoing LHSAA commissioner Tommy Henry proposed the new classification groupings. And assuming the proposed districts take effect as is, next year will look quite a bit different for local schools.

The new districts amount to changes for all three River Parish large schools as East St. John, Destrehan and Hahnville have been placed into 6-5A with East Ascension, Dutchtown and St. Amant to form an all Airline Highway league. St. Charles will jump a classe due to enrollment figures putting the Comets back into Class 3A, which will pit them in a district with Lutcher, Port Allen, Brusly and Plaquemine to form 9-3A.

The remaining River Parish prep teams stay put in their districts, though they may see other teams in their respective districts. Riverside and St. James, for instance, remain in 10-2A, but would no longer face the Donaldsonville Tigers. There, the Tigers are replaced by the ________.

West St. John and Reserve Christian was also unaffected by the redistricting, as the Rams remain in 9-1A with ____. The Eagles remain in Class C, district 10 with _____.
