Festival of the Bonfires coming soon

LUTCHER- The Festival of the Bonfires is scheduled for December 7,8,9 & 10 at Lutcher Park.

Ticket sales will begin on November 1 and will be available at the following Matherne’s Supermarket locations: 7580 Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge; 7355 Highland Road in Baton Rouge; Hwy 3125 in Paulina; and 1424 Airline Hwy. in LaPlace. Tickets will also be sold at Music Center, located at 216 N. Airline Hwy. Gonzales and at Cartunes Unlimited, located at 213 Mary Steet in Tibodaux.

The Teen Miss Festival of the Bonfires Pageant will be held for teens ages 14-16 and Miss Festival of the Bonfries pageant will be held for women ages 17-21. Entry forms are due Sunday, November 5. The pageant will be held on Saturday, November 25, at Lutcher High School beginning at 7 p.m.

Several special events are planned for the Festival of the Bonfires including a special concert featuring Loverboy with special guest, Zebra’s Randy Jackson. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the music will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

The Festival of the Bonfires will be selling the book, The Legend of Papa Noel: A Cajun Christmas Story, written by Terri Hoover Dunham. The children’s book features the lighting of the bonfires on Christmas Eve. Mrs. Dunham will be reading the book at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9 to the children at Breakfast with Santa in the purple and gold tent. She is will available throughout the day to autograph the books. Books will go on sale in the middle November.

Throughout the weekend, festival goers will enjoy beautiful flower arrangements depicting &#8220Christmas Memories” created by members of the Riverside Garden Club. There will be 26 artistic designs.
