Special presentation returns to River Region on Thursday

LUTCHER-The St. James Community Theatre is set to once again put on a show that is a holiday favorite in the area.

The Living Christmas Tree will begin its run on Thursday, November 30, at 7 p.m. with additional performances on Saturday, December 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 3 at 2 p.m. at Lutcher high School Auditorium

The show will feature 44 singers who are inside a tree-shaped wooden structure on stage. They will be singing Christmas favorites for all to enjoy, including O, Holy Night, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day and the Halleluiah Chorus from Handel’s &#8220Messiah”

Yvonne’s Dance Studio, an award-winning local dance studio will also be performing.

&#8220The Living Christmas tree has been a favorite event for many years. This will be at least the fifteenth time I have directed this performance,” said director Julie Boudreaux.

&#8220We have usually traveled to local churches to perform, but this year it is being held in the Auditorium after the Living Christmas Tree has been absent from the program for a few years,” she said.

&#8220We last did this about four or five years ago, and it great to have a break from it and come back to it. The Living Tree is one of my favorites,” Boudreaux said.

Many locals will be able to display their talents, including the Chanel School Choir, the St. James Community Theatre Youth Choir and of course, the St. James Theatre company.

The choral director is Colby Chabaud.

Tickets are $10 for adults $9 for senior citizens and $5 for children.
