SCC swim squads place sixth, seventh in state meet

Kaila Klibert, Christie Brady, Lindsey Eichhorn and Norbert Weinert helped lead their respective St. Charles Comets swim teams to a sixth and seventh place finish last Friday in Sulphur for the Division IV state meet.

Weinert and Klibert each nabbed a fourth place finish on the day’s action, with Weinert placing in the Boys 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Freestyle while Klibert placed in the Girls 100-yard Backstroke and eighth in the 50-yard Freestyle.

Brady was another top finisher for SCC as she brought home two fifth place finishes, in the Girls 100-yard Butterfly and the Girls 100-yard Backstroke. Eichhorn placed eleventh in two different events for the Comets, the 100-yard Butterfly and the 200-yard IM.

The relays saw SCC placing in five different events. The Girls got sixth in 200-yard Medley Relay and the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and seventh in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The Boys were fourth in the 200-yard Medley Relay, third in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.

The Girls squad totaled 173 points, which was good for a sixth place finish behind St. Martin’s 148.5. The Boys got seventh place out of eighteen schools with 141 points.

Emily St. Martin, 10th in Girls 50-yard Freestyle and in the Girls 100-yard Freestyle

Jessie Braud, 11th in Girls 200-yard freestyle

Ricky Poche, 14th in Boys 200-yard IM

Adam Fisher, 15th in Boys 200-yard IM and 16th in Boys 100-yard Breaststroke

Alex Zinicki, 10th in Boys 100-yard Butterfly
