KENNER – St. Charles volleyball squad had a big order to fill after knocking off North Iberia in the bi-district game Monday as the win put the Lady Comets up against the number two seeded University Lady Cubs for the quarter-finals Thursday morning.

University had gone 35-4 through the season and ended Thursday as the highest ranked team since number one Iota was upset by Episcopal. But the Lady Comets didn’t go away easy.

Katie Tregre led the charge as she recorded a team high seven kills and seven digs throughout the regionals match-up. And even though SCC was productive in the first game with Lauren Coniglio and Meg Gustafson working at the net, the Lady Comets dropped the first one 25-19.

The second game got away from the St. Charles squad a bit as University ran up a 25-13 final. SCC fought back in the third game in the hopes of extending the match, but the Lady Cubs used offensive firepower to take the final game by a 25-19 score.

In their game Monday against North Iberia, the Lady Comets came in as the underdog with the tenth seed. But St. Charles wasted little time jumping ahead in the first game with a 25-15 score. The second one was more contentious as the Lady Bears pushed it to the final two points and took a 23-25 victory to tie things up.

St. Charles took control in the third and fourth games of the evening,

St. Charles 21-15.
