Police say one dead in fire

MT. AIRY-A body has been found in a residence after a fire burned two trailers on Daffodil Street in Mt. Airy on Monday.

&#8220The body was found inside the residence of 235 Daffodil Street. At this time, proper identification has not been made regarding the identity of the victim. The trailer next to 235 Daffodil, 237 Daffodil was also damaged,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Two other people were reportedly in the trailer when the fire started, but got out.

Police responded to a call that a trailer was on fire at 2:59 p.m. Monday and police arrived at the scene at 3:05 p.m.

An autopsy will be conducted and the case is being investigated by both the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Fire Marshall.
