Suspect gives up when officers threaten to send in dog

LAPLACE-A St. John the Baptist Parish K9 unit cornered a Reserve man Sunday after a foot chase in which the subject fled officers after he was seen breaking into a vehicle.

Mike Tregre, spokesperson for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, said the suspect was seen breaking into a 1995 Ford Mustang in the 700 block of Bienville Street in LaPlace.

A witness described 18-year-old Tramond Bourgeois, of 244 Chad B. Baker St., Reserve as a black male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

&#8220Officers did a thorough search of the area and located Bourgeois hiding under a trailer at Ascension of Our Lord School in LaPlace,” Tregre said.

According to the sheriff’s report, Bourgeois surrendered when the officer told him that if he didn’t come out he would release the dog.

Bourgeois replied, &#8220OK, I give up, I’m coming out.”

Bourgeois was taken into custody and also confessed to burglarizing a 1999 Chevy Malibu, a 1996 Chevy and a 1997 Toyota Camry.

Various items were recovered from the burglarized vehicles including, a stereo, speaker, CD’s and a walk-man.

Bourgeois is being held for a bond of $37,800 in the parish jail on three counts of simple burglary-theft from a motor vehicle and one count of attempted simple burglary from a motor vehicle.
