INDEPENDENCE – With wins over Loranger and Independence this week, Lady Rebel volleyball is set to open play next Tuesday at a 16-3 record with just Lutcher to play before the district schedule opens.

On Tuesday, Riverside played host to a Loranger team that is just getting it’s season off of the ground. In three straight sets, the Rebs took the win by scores of 25-7, 25-16 and 25-11.

Jessica Price was a high-scorer for Riverside in the win with her nine kills in the match. Marci Millet added five aces to that while Heidi Garcich’s defensive effort produced five digs. Nicole Porrier kept the offense well-fed with 20 assists throughout.

That outing set the stage for Thursday’s road match to Independence. There, the Lady Rebs took the win in three straight sets by scores of 25-6, 25-10 and 25-6.

Porrier was the statistical leader for much of this one as Riverside experimented with a new serving set that resulted in 13 aces for the setter.

This weekend, Riverside is set to host West St. John on Saturday before seeing Lutcher in Reserve on Tuesday and St. James on Thursday.
