RCS opens district schedule

RESERVE – The Lady Bulldogs of Lutcher evened their record at 9-9 for the season on Monday with a three-game win in Reserve over small school Reserve Christian and the Lady Eagles went on to open district play with a loss to Lutheran on Thursday.

The contest against Lutcher started out as the most competitive, as each team looked to find a rhythm. The Lutcher squad too the advantage when they got out to a 25-13 lead in the first game and coasted to the victory in the second and third by scores of 25-6 and 25-10.

Michele and Katie Duhe led the Lady Bulldogs statistically with 21 assists and ten kills respectively. For RCS, Megan Waguespack posted five kills while Macy Matherne chipped in with defense at the net, recording five blocks. Lauren Babin led the home squad with eight aces and five digs.

The loss puts the Lady Eagles at 1-10 for the season.

The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, got right back to work on Tuesday and fell to 9-10 after their win following a four-game loss to St. Charles.

The Lady Eagles got back to work on Thursday afternoon, but were swept in their first district outing against Lutheran.

There, RCS fell in the roady match by scores of 25-7, 25-14 and 25-7.

That puts the Lady Eagles at 0-1 heading into another road game, this one against Ecole Classique on Monday.
