LAPLACE-A LaPlace resident avoided being investigated for a hit and run with injuries after an accident on Friday.

Sgt. Conrad Baker said that a man hit another man on his bicycle when the cyclist was riding on the road.

&#8220The cyclist was traveling with traffic and crossed the path of the motorist and fell from the bicycle. The cyclist told the man that he was all right and that he would not be filing a report against the motorist,” Baker said.

&#8220The motorist, who did not have a phone in his car went home and filed the report himself. Later the cyclist was transported to River Parishes Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries and chose to file the report after all, Baker said.

&#8220By filing the report himself and being honest, the motorist avoided an investigation that could have landed him in jail,” he said.
