GARYVILLE-A Garyville man was beaten with a gun Wednesday and transported to River Parishes hospital where he will undergo reconstructive nose surgery.
“Charles Wilkins was originally struck in the face with a bottle by Ronald Weber of Garyville after Wilkins made a disrespectful comment about a woman,” said Mike Tregre, spokesperson for St. John Sheriff’s Office.
“Wilkins was treated and received stitches for facial injuries and released from River Parishes Hospital only to return to Garyville where he came across Donald Weber, Ronald’s brother,” Tregre said.
“Wilkins then had a separate argument with Donald Weber, who pulled a gun and smashed the gun into Wilkins’ nose. The argument heated to a more violent nature and Donald Weber began shooting in the area,” Tregre said.
According to a report, bullets from the gun struck Roy Pidgeon, 47, of Garyville as he was passing. Pidgeon was rushed to River Parishes Hospital after he was hit in the lower back by a stray bullet and Pidgeon was still in the hospital Thursday. Another man, Larry Dunn was also in the area at the time, but was uninjured.
Police chased Donald Weber into a wooded area where he later escaped. He is wanted for three counts of attempted murder and officers are still searching for him at this time. If anyone has any information contact 985-652-9514.
