Man shot during drug deal

KILLONA – A St. Rose man was arrested for the attempted murder of a River Ridge man during a drug transaction, which ended with a gunshot wound to the head.
Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said 19-year-old Brad McPhail was arrested on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest for the attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery of 28-year-old Michael Foster.
“On May 22, officers responded to a shooting on Riverview Drive in St. Rose,” Yoes said. “Contact was made with Foster, who was the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the head.”
According to Yoes, at the time Foster was coherent, talking and advised officers that he had been shot during a drug transaction of the purchase of marijuana.
“After the shooting, McPhail allegedly took $600 from the victim,” Yoes said. “During the investigation, officers also located cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana in Foster’s vehicle.”
Foster was transported to the St. Charles Parish Hospital for his injuries. When Foster was released he was arrested for possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana, according to Yoes.
McPhail and Foster are both being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center. McPhail on a bond of $750,000 and Foster on a bond of $150,000, both set by Judge Kirk Granier.
