Trenton Marshall leads Wildcat in 59-44 victory with 19 points

RESERVE- When it comes to ESJ and SCC basketball, size matters.

Last Thursday night the (10-6) Wildcats towered over the (7-5) Comets, 59-44. Despite the tremendous efforts of Andrew Coleman and Michael Troglen, the Comets were not able to overcome the aggressiveness of Trenton Marshall and Willie Lago.

Jamon Kenner started the game off by nailing a three pointer from the side of the court. As Vincent Stewart got the crowd pumped when he took air and pounded the first slam dunk of the evening.

Coleman and Troglen started the drive off for SCC defensively with several well executed steals disrupting ESJ drives.

The second quarter shine brightly for ESJ defensively, allowing only three points from SCC for the entire quarter. As Marshall, Kenner, and Lago lit the score board up for ESJ.

The second half brought out the second team for the ESJ as Troglen, Coleman, Jonathon Bonura, and Austin Martin led a second charge for SCC and at one point in the fourth quarter, coming within seven points of ESJ, but Lago led the Wildcats to keep the Comets at bay in the fourth quarter.

&#8220Will Lago is a great senior leader that will put ESJ over the hump.” ESJ Coach Charles Julien said after Thursday night’s game.

For ESJ, Marshall ended the night with 19 points three coming from forceful slam dunks. Willie Lago commanded the team with 12 points. And Vincent Stewart capped off with seven points.

For SCC, Coleman and Troglen finished the evening with 19 points each.

&#8220We have a lot of tremendous individual talent, that is now starting to mold into a tremendous team talent.” Julien said after last Thursday night’s game.
