LAPLACE – Christmas arrives a few days early for 15 lucky single parent families thanks to the generosity of Professional Funeral Services of LaPlace.

Flyers were passed out at local churches encouraging single-family parents to sign up for a chance to receive one of 15 toy gift baskets, according to Michelle Davis, who is in charge of representing professional Funeral Services during this endeavor.

&#8220This is the first year we’ve done something like this,” Davis said. &#8220Right now it’s all being provided for by Professional Funeral Services, but if there’s someone who would like to help, by all means feel free.”

The drawing is going to be held on Dec. 20, and the winners will receive their baskets on Dec. 21.

&#8220It’s (the contest) really going to be geared towards the children,” said Davis referring to the gift baskets. &#8220But they will have something in each basket for the parents.”

The deadline for entries is Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., and only one entry is allowed per family.
