State football finals to be broadcast on TV this weekend

St. Charles 2A game against John Curtis to air today and on Christmas Eve

NEW ORLEANS – For the fourth consecutive year Cox Sports Television (CST) and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) will team up on full game rebroadcasts of all five of the football championship games from Shreveport, La. The games took place Thursday through Saturday, 12/8-10 at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. The Shreveport location filled in for the Superdome in New Orleans which remains under repair from damages caused by Hurricane Katrina.

 A total of 160 Louisiana high school football teams began the play-offs on November 11 and 10 made it to Shreveport in search for the coveted championship trophy within class 1A through 5A. The match-ups to be televised for the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl Prep Classics are as follows:

1A Championship:  Opelousas Catholic (Opelousas) vs. Evangel (Shreveport)

2A Championship:  St. Charles (LaPlace) vs. John Curtis (River Ridge)

3A Championship:  Notre Dame (Crowley) vs. Redemptorist (Baton Rouge)

4A Championship:  Bastrop (Bastrop) vs. Breaux Bridge (Breaux Bridge)

5A Championship:  West Monroe (West Monroe) vs. Acadiana (Lafayette)

 The CST announcing team of Dennis McCain and Rob Musemeche return for their fourth consecutive year of announcing the football championships on CST. Rounding out the broadcast team is Tressy Leindecker who will provide sideline updates and interviews.
