THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University officials signed an agreement that will offer high school students in St. Charles Parish the chance to earn college credit toward a degree in family and consumer sciences.

The agreement allows 12th-graders to take two courses at the St. Charles Parish Public Schools Satellite Center in Luling and receive six advanced placement credit hours in family and consumer sciences.

The collaborative program was initiated by the Nicholls Family and Consumer Sciences Department in the College of Education and the Academic Advising Center in University College to attract quality candidates into the family and consumer sciences profession.

These courses will be offered in January 2006 at the satellite school.
