LAPLACE – In an attempt to strengthen community relations between industrial businesses and residents of St. John Parish, the St. John Parish Industrial Group is holding its annual breakfast meeting on Wednesday at 7 a.m., at the Quality Inn in Laplace.

&#8220This is the 17th year we’ve had the meeting. We’ve tried to use luncheons or dinner meetings but the breakfasts seem to be easier for people to attend,” Doris Grego said on behalf of the St. John Parish Industrial Group

Plant managers, environmental managers and engineers from the companies participating will be on hand at the meeting to field questions from the general public about waste management philosophies, waste reduction efforts and emissions of chemicals to the environment.

&#8220We want people to see what we’re doing firsthand,” Grego said. &#8220We try to answer everyone’s question during the meeting and afterwards if necessary.”

Awards for first, second, and third place will be given to local children from grades 3-6 who participated in a coloring contest sponsored by the St. John Parish Industrial Group prior to the breakfast meeting.
