Sports fans can rebound from the start of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season with some basketball action this coming week as six local high schools will host games in the local area.

First up, East St. John will take on Reserve Christian in the Eagles Nest on Monday in a much-anticipated match-up of schools separated by just about a mile on Airline Highway. The Class C Eagles look to spoil ESJ’s 5-1 early season 5A standings to increase their own record to 13-3 Though a much larger school, the Wildcats will have their hands full with Baylor commitment Demond &#8220Tweetie” Carter and a host of other prolific Eagles including Kevin Branch, Justin Porter, Tinos Brozos and Eddren McCain. But ESJ starters, including stat leaders Trenton Marshall, Will Lago and Jamond Kenner, should match-up well with an experienced Reserve Christian team.

RCS is coming off of a road trip to Lake Charles where they dropped their last game to Forrest City in the first day of the American Press Invitational. The Wildcats are also returning to Reserve, after playing in the St. Amant Gold Dome Classic in which they topped Terrebone and Dutchtown.

Also on Monday, Hahnville’s Lady Tigers (1-2) and Destrehan’s Lady Wildcats (2-3) will play the role of host when they take on St. Amant and South Terrebone’s Lady Gators respectively. Destrehan’s girls soccer team will also face South Terrebone that afternoon at DHS.

On Tuesday, the St. Charles’ Lady Comets basketball squad will host Crescent City and the Pioneers record. SCC is nearing .500 after opening the season with a three-game losing streak, but is coming off of a road stretch after playing in the St. Martin’s Tournament this week.

Meanwhile, West St. John takes to the court against St. James (0-3) in Edgard and the Lady Wildcats (9-2) host Thibodaux in Reserve. The girls ESJ squad is going strong, but suffered their first loss of the season to Acadiana this week. Look for the Lady Cats to come out to this one determined.

Also on Tuesday, the LHS Bulldogs (0-1) are scheduled to play Grace King in Lutcher, Destrehan (0-3) is hosting Central LaFourche and Archbishop Shaw’s Lady Eagle soccer squad travels to Hahnville to take on the Tigers.

Later in the week Destrehan teams will head this way, going to ESJ Wednesday for a basketball showdown and to SCC for a Thursday soccer match.
