Rams, Bulldogs, Rebels and both Wildcat teams sent packing

The post-season ended after three rounds of the playoffs for a handful of River Parish teams.

In 5A, two Wildcat teams will be spectators from here on out, as West Monroe scratched off Destrehan 49-27 and Hahnville cut East St. John out with a 33-25 win.

Destrehan went down early in their game and never could close the gap with the Rebels despite six turnovers in their favor. The Fighting Wildcats gave up 361 yards rushing and seven touchdowns while making 7 completions for 128 yards. Destrehan ended their season with a 10-2 record.

Hahnville exacted revenge on ESJ from an earlier season loss, dispatching the Wildcat team in a tense 33-25 final score after an interception in the end zone cemented the win. East St. John surrendered six points in safeties throughout the game as rotating QBs Johnny Thiel and Ricky Dixon struggled, combining for 135 passing yards. Johnny Owens was held to 72 yards rushing. ESJ finishes their season with 9 wins and two losses.

In 3A, Lutcher grappled with Redemptorist, but the lack of a running game limited the Bulldogs to a passing attack which accounted for 182 yards of offense in the 35-13 loss. Redemptorist running back Brent Grimes had his way on the field that night, racking up 212 yards on 24 carries. Lutcher leaves the playoff action having gone 7-5 this season.

Riverside had their hands full in 2A action, traveling to face John Curtis where they got blanketed 42-0. The Curtis defense had an answer for every move made by the Rebels, who were without running back Jarid Caesar as he was hospitalized for pnemonia. Riverside punted ten times in the game and struggled to stop Curtis once they went into a no-huddle offense. With the loss, the Rebels recorded a 8-4 season this year.
