LUTCHER– Lutcher’s Lady Bulldogs increased their season record to 2-1 Monday night after defeating St. Helena’s Hawks by a score of 26-25.

Though Lutcher held a steady lead throughout, the Hawks brought it to within one point with 6.5 seconds remaining after a Lutcher defender fouled giving St. Helena a three-point opportunity to tie the game. But after missing the free throw, the Hawks were unable to get a possession down to their side of the court after fouling freshman Taja Franklin.

The difference in the match came in the final minute as sophomore Randi Donald pulled down a rebound and made an assist to fellow sophomore Rynique Perkins to take a 26-21 lead.

The first half was tightly matched on the defensive side as the Lady Bulldogs went into the break up by a point, 10-9. But the second half found Lutcher pulling ahead by as much as six until the final seconds.

Rynique Perkins led all scorers with ten of the Lady Bulldog’s 26 points. Donald tacked on seven more to aid in the victory.

Lutcher returned right back to action, heading out to play in the Christian Life Tournament, which wraps up tonight.
