HAHNVILLE – A Bridge City man was indicted on Wednesday by a St. Charles Parish grand Jury for first degree murder of a Luling man.

James Underwood, 41 of Luling, was found stabbed to death at home in his bathroom on Sept. 22, but St. Charles Parish officers did not discover the body until two to three weeks after he was killed, because a missing persons report had been filed by a neighbor and the victim was found still in his home, according to the District Attorney of St. Charles Parish report.

Jason Pfeil, 31, was found and arrested in Texas on Oct. 6 and transported to St. Charles Parish, where he was placed on a $1 million bond set by Judge Robert Chaisson. He will be arraigned on Feb. 8 with Assistant District Attorney Kim McElwee prosecuting the case.

&#8220This murder was extremely heinous in nature, and my office will do everything in its power to see that justice is served,” said DA Harry J. Morel Jr. &#8220My staff and I are charged with the duty to ensure that the crimes in this parish are prosecuted according to law, and we are always equal to the task. This case will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in order to protect the citizens of St. Charles Parish.”

Investigations of this case are still continuing to find out what exactly Pfeil’s motives were, according to the St. Charles Parish District Attorney’s Office.
