LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Council will hold its regular meeting on Nov. 8 in Edgard.

The agenda includes the St. John Civic Center, Waste Management, a letter to Parish President Nickie Monica and water/waste water infrastructure improvements on the West Bank.

Councilman Sean Roussel will discuss new marketing options for the Civic Center in LaPlace, as well as construction updates and completion dates.

Councilwoman Jaclyn Hotard will present a letter written by Desiree Burger, St. John resident, addressed to Nickie Monica, concerning general questions about the parish.

Hotard said the letter was dated Aug. 26, and that Burger has tried making appointments with Monica, but has not been able to sit down and address her concerns about sewage and other general concerns she has with the parish, and hopes to bring her concerns to the council to get addressed.

Council members will all be addressing and giving updates to the current Waste Management situation.

At the Oct. 25 meeting, the reports were considerably positive, after previous threats of ending Waste Management’s contract with the Parish.

Parish President Nickie Monica will also announce a resolution supporting a grant application by South Central Planning and Development Commission for water and waste water infrastructure improvements on the west bank.
