LUTCHER — St. James Parish Sheriff’s Department detectives have arrested two suspects in an alleged second-degree murder case involving an eviction.

Shenita Love, 45 of Lutcher and Shanrick Burns, 25 of Gramercy were both arrested.

Love was charged with attempted second-degree murder and Burns with principal to attempted second-degree murder.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified and started an investigation regarding a fight that occurred on Exchange Alley in Lutcher, which resulted in one person being stabbed.

The stabbed victim was apparently attacked when she and her mother went to the residence of the above location to serve an eviction notice. A fight broke out, which resulted in the girl being stabbed, according to Capt. Sid Berthelot with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Department.

The two women withdrew from the fight, but the girl did not realize she was stabbed until she was getting into her vehicle and saw that she was bleeding.

The victim was treated at River Parish Hospital for a punctured left lung.

According to Berthelot when the victim and her mother were interviewed they said that when the tenant was notified about the eviction, several individuals who were at the residence attacked them.

Love was placed on a $75,000 bond and Burns on a $10,000 bond. Since the arrests, both suspects have bonded out.
