RESERVE — Louisiana Technical College River Parishes Campus Student Government Association will host their annual October Fest on Friday, this year to help displaced students.

Accounting Technology Instructor Debbie Chabaud is one of the advisors for SGA and said the festival will raise money for displaced students in the River Region.

Chabaud said St. John Parish has about 1,100 displaced students, St. Charles has 500 and St. James 300 displaced students, along with several at the school.

“A lot of businesses and industry are participating in this event,” Chabaud said. “This is a time where we can bring the community together, so that the students do not feel they are alone or that people do not care about them.”

Chabaud said the event will be open to the public, and she looks forward to “having a big turnout and seeing people working together,” she said.

October Fest will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the campus located at 181 Regala Park Road in Reserve.

All proceed will be distributed throughout the River Parishes for displaced students.
