RESERVE – It was another home volleyball victory for a St. John Parish team Thursday night as Riverside Academy swept Loranger 25-18, 26-24 and 25-13.

Marci Millet and Erica Oubre had six kills apiece to lead the Lady Rebels (3-0).

The team struggled slightly with the Lady Wolves, who led game two 23-18 before Riverside rallied for the win.

“We made some easy errors and beat ourselves up,” said head coach Melissa Martin. “But we ended up winning pretty easy at the end.”

Ashley Heckathorn led the team in digs with seven, seconded by Millet who had six to go with a team-high four assists.

Nicole Martin and Oubre led the Lady Rebels with two aces each.

Riverside will take on Lutcher at home on Tuesday, then travel to make up a missed game at Loranger Thursday.

Both matches will start at 4:30 p.m.

“Our first two games back we struggled a little,” said Martin. “But we’ve played very well since we got back from the holiday (for Hurricane Rita).

“We go to Lutcher this weekend for a tournament, and we should face some good competition before district play opens,” Martin added.
