BOUTTE — A Luling woman was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center by AirMed after rear-ending a St. Charles Parish school bus.

Ginger Rockweiler, 49, was traveling eastbound on US 90 in the left lane when her car rear-ended the school bus at LA 52, Paul Mallard Road in Boutte.

The school bus was stopped at a traffic light and also in the left lane. The bus was driving by Walter James, 62, of Luling and no passengers where on the bus at the time of the accident, according to information provided by the Louisiana State Police Troop B.

It was reported that Rockweiler was not paying attention to the stopped traffic ahead before rear-ending the school bus, which caused serious injury to herself. She was reported wearing a seatbelt and her airbag did deploy properly, which kept Rockweiler from critical injuries.

LSP Troop B reported speed being a factor in the crash and Rockweiler was cited for careless operation.
