KENNER — A LaPlace man was killed after being shot in a Kenner bar Friday early Friday morning, and police are now searching for the suspect.

Byron Westley, 25, who lived between residences in LaPlace and Kenner, died at Charity Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest, said Sgt. Darren Minvielle of the Kenner Police Department.

The incident occurred at Robertson’s Bar on Taylor Street in Kenner at approximately 4 a.m.

According to Minvielle, some type of barroom argument occurred shortly before the shooting, but it is unknown if Westley was involved in the argument.

Two women were also injured in the shooting after being grazed by bullets.

The two women were taken to local hospitals and released, and Minvielle said they are in good condition.

Though no arrests have been made, a warrant has been obtained by the Kenner Police Department for Keith Wilson, 30, of Kenner, who police believe may be responsible for the shooting.

Wilson is on parole for weapons and drug charges, according to Minvielle, and police say Wilson should be considered armed and dangerous.
